Field Service Engineer - Remote Automation & Controls Specialist
As a Field Service Engineer, you'll serve as the critical link between our cutting-edge automation solutions and our clients' operational success. Working with industrial control systems and batching automation technology, you'll provide hands-on technical support, implementation guidance, and training to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requirements and provide expert recommendations for automation solutions that drive operational efficiency.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, diagnose complex issues, and implement effective technical solutions.
- Manage all aspects of on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of industrial automation systems and controls.
- Create comprehensive functional and technical design documentation for implemented systems, maintaining detailed specifications.
- Maintain meticulous working logs of all system updates, modifications, and completion dates for quality assurance.
- Develop and conduct specialized training programs for end-users, establishing best practices and ensuring consistency across client organizations.
- Enhance existing automation programs by evaluating objectives, reviewing proposed changes, and recommending optimizations.
- Drive assigned automation projects to successful completion, ensuring timely delivery within established budgetary parameters.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6-12 months professional experience with electrical installations (residential or industrial), electrical controls, or automation systems for batching processes.
- 6-12 months hands-on experience implementing industrial automation software solutions, including PLC programming and HMI configuration.
- Demonstrated proficiency with industrial control systems, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of machine automation principles, mechanics, and electronic components.
- Proven ability to provide technical hardware guidance regarding installation, operation, and maintenance procedures.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create clear technical documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
- Analytical mindset with advanced problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while maintaining accountability to project timelines.
Nice to Have
- Experience with SCADA systems, DCS platforms, or IoT integration for industrial applications.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA-88, ISA-95, or IEC 61131-3.
- Knowledge of industrial networks including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or Modbus.
- Background in manufacturing environments such as food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or chemical processing.
- Technical certifications related to automation, controls, or electrical systems.
